COURSE OVERVIEW
Influenza frequently hits the headlines but its characteristics and impact are often under-recognized by the public or even health care professionals. Its occurrence coincides with the winter season and is often confused with outbreaks of gastrointestinal (GI) disease. Influenza is preventable and treatable. In this module, the nature of the influenza virus and the disease it produces. discuss vaccine methods of prevention, and review the antiviral medications that are available for both prophylaxis and treatment are discussed. With respect to above issues possible future pandemic situations will also be addressed.
