Pulmonary Medicine Master CME: Bronchospastic Cough: Asthma v/s COPD

COURSE OVERVIEW

Bronchospastic diseases like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma have gained interest as a major public health concern. Both the diseases have increased tremendously in prevalence adding as a huge burden to society as well as health care finances. COPD is largely preventable disease while asthma has its origin during infancy. Through this module we intend to explain these two important obstructive respiratory diseases with the goal of providing clinically practical information for the management of patients with COPD andasthma in practice.

• Discuss the similarities and differences in the pathophysiologic mechanisms between COPD and asthma.
