COURSE OVERVIEW
COPD is the 4 leading cause of death in the world, and leads to more than 220,000 death in the US each year. According to recent data, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is greatly under-recognized and not generally diagnosed. Identification of risk factors for developing COPD, implications for disease control with early diagnosis, and the use of promising strategies for successful disease prevention is the aim of the present module.

• Understand the complex etiology of COPD and identify risk factors
• Recent insights into COPD pathophysiology and its management
• Apply newer strategies to prevent the effects of COPD
